May 6, 2025 by Political Science Communications

We are delighted to announce that Semra Sevi has received an Early Researcher Award (ERA).

The Early Researcher Award is a highly competitve, discretionary, non-entitlement program that gives funding to new researchers at publicly funded Ontario research institutions to build a research team.

The Ministry of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security (MCURES) is the main body that provides Early Researcher Awards (ERAs) and are funded through the Ontario government.

Of this recognition she said: "I'm thrilled to receive the ERA. The most exciting part is that it will support the recruitment and training of a team of diverse students to my research lab, something I care deeply about. Personally, it's incredibly meaningful to be recognized in this way, especially knowing that the last time someone from our department received this grant was Peter Loewen in 2012. It's an honour to follow in those footsteps, and I’m excited about the opportunities this creates for both my lab and the broader academic community."

Congratulations Semra!
