Congratulations to Professor Seva Gunitsky who has been named the George Ignatieff Chair in Peace and Conflict Studies. The Chair was established to honour the memory of one of Canada’s most distinguished diplomats and proponents of world peace, and to enhance teaching and research in Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Toronto. His appointment is for a five-year term beginning July 1, 2025 until June 30, 2030.

Of his new appointment, Professor Gunitsky said: "It’s a great honor to be named the George Ignatieff Chair. Personally, it’s meaningful to be connected to a legacy that stood for diplomacy and a belief in the possibility of peace. Professionally, it’s a chance to deepen my research on the forces that shape international conflict and cooperation, and to work with students who are committed to understanding and improving the world we live in."
