Biography

Isaac Lawther is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Political Science at the University of Toronto. Isaac’s research focuses on the internationalization of Chinese-sourced surveillance technologies, and the impact that those technologies have on democratic development. In 2022-2023, Isaac was the Margaret Meagher Fellow at the Centre for China Policy Research, Global Affairs Canada. As a fellow, Isaac conducted research on issues of forced labour and the concentration of Chinese actors in critical mineral value chains.
